Appointments Announced by California Governor Brown

California Governor Edmund Brown Jr. announced several appointments.

Among the first to be appointed by the governor is that of James Adler to the California Law Revision Commission. Adler, a resident of Los Angeles, has been a mediator and an arbitrator since 2005. From 1982 to 2005, Adler was a partner at the law firm Irell and Manella LLP.

Prior to his stint at Irell and Mannella, he was also a partner from 1965 to 1982 at Munger Tolles and Olson LLP. From 1961 to 1962, we worked as a law clerk for US Supreme Court Chief Justice Earl Warren and Justice Charles Whittaker. He earned his Juris Doctor degree at the University of Michigan Law School.

Governor Brown also appointed Xochiti Carrion to the California Law Revision Commission. Only 32 years old and a resident of San Francisco, Carrion previously worked since 2007 as an attorney for Goldfarb and Lipman LLP. She is also a member of the San Francisco La Raza Association and the California La Raza Lawyers Association. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from Hastings College of the Law at the University of California.

Another appointment made by Gov. Brown to the California Law Revision Commission is that of Patricia Cowett, sixty-four years old and a resident of San Diego. She received her Juris Doctor degree from Davis School of Law at the University of California. In the past, she served as a San Diego Municipal Court judge from 1979 to 1998. She became a presiding judge in 1991. In the period of 1998 to 2008, Cowett became a San Diego Superior Court judge.

Other appointments made by Gov. Brown are that of Jane Dolan to the Central Valley Flood Protection Board and Jonathan Sargent to the Alarm Company Operator Disciplinary Review Committee.
