Leadership at it’s best

As we are progressing through John Maxwell’s “The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership”, it is apparent that there is more to the story than meets the eye. Leadership is everything when building a business especially a law firm. Whether you are leading a young team of young attorneys, para-professionals and administrative staff or a seasoned staff of attorneys committed to a new super law firm, leadership is the key. As the reader of this information you are probably the alpha leader type. Follow these principles and people will follow you.
Maxwell’s principle number nine is The Law of Magnetism. Great leaders attract great people to their team. People want to work with individuals that are team oriented and looking to help lead the team to fiscal victory as well. Team players sense when they have a great leader in the mix.
The Law of Connection suggests that great leaders touch a heart before they ask for a hand. In order to build a great law firm your team must buy into your vision leadership is the route to obtain your goals. When people know how much you care about them they will go to the ends of the earth to get the job done. When Fedex was in its infancy Fred Smith’s team bought into his vision. At the time jets were being re-routed to avoid being repossessed. Employees would cash their paycheck at check cashing locations to buy time for the company to clear the checks. Great leaders that connect with their team can get away with these things, an employer cannot!
