Think on your feet

A leader has the right to be beaten, but never the right to be surprised.  Napoleon Bonaparte

The key to a great litigator, businessman or entrepreneur is the ability to think on your feet.  A few years back there was a deodorant commercial that proclaimed, “Never let them see you sweat”.  No matter what the situation is you had better be at your best when the pressure is on.  Thinking on your feet is a learned behavior or task.  You must do your homework for every possible encounter you face.  Great businessmen appear to be composed and aware of what they are doing at all times.  Thinking on your feet is the result of preparation and discipline, nothing more and nothing less.

Stress and challenges will bring you a heightened awareness of what is happening and what to do next.  If and only if you are thoroughly prepared for what is to come.  Always have a plan “A” and a plan “B”!  You must be prepared at every given moment.  Be prepared because you beat 90 percent of the people by out working them.  What about the other ten percent?  It is a dog fight!  Being prepared so that you appear to be a great spur of the moment thinker will give you and your firm a positive reputation to be envied. Be prepared and your law firm will reap the rewards.
