Developing people skills

The first skill we must develop is how to successfully talk with people. Notice I say talk with people and not talk to people. No one enjoys being talked to! Communication is a two way process. In fact biologically we have a significant clue on how to communicate. We have two ears and one mouth as a service provider we must utilize our biology in proportion. We need to listen twice as much as we talk. Being the dominant person in a conversation will repel people from wanting to do business with you.
The communication skill you want to develop is your ability to bond with people. You need to build rapport and a point of interest. People love to talk about things that they are interested in. The number one interest of most people is “themselves”. Therefore limit the words, “I”, “Me”, “My”, and “Mine”. Utilize “You’ and “Your” as often as possible. This is for you, this will benefit you or your family, doing this will help you to…”. When people feel as if you are interested in them and are a potential benefit to them they will retain you for their needs!
