Coalition that will Support New Law Enforcement Launched

8/9/2011

FairPlayUSA has announced the formation of a coalition that will educate the public and policymakers on broader public policy interests raised by existing vague laws in the United States which led to millions of Americans gambling online. FairPlayUSA has declared its unequivocal support for Congress in its quest to define what is illegal gambling and to provide tough law enforcement tools to prohibit it, as well as crafting a stringent regulatory framework for Internet poker.

FairPlayUSA, a Washington D.C.-based organization, intends to expand its membership base to include child safety and consumer protection experts, law enforcement officials, the commercial gaming industry, and some of the best poker players in the world.

The first Secretary of Homeland Security and former Governor of Pennsylvania, the Honorable Tom Ridge, Internet safety expert Parry Aftab, and professional poker player Greg Raymer, are the initial members of the Advisory Board. Executive Director Marisa McNee will lead the efforts of the coalition.

A petition asking Congress to address the issues associated with offshore online gambling is featured on the website of FairPlayUSA. It also provides law enforcement tools to crack down on illegitimate sites, as well as set up a tough regulatory framework for Internet poker to ensure its reliability and safety.

According to Marisa McNee, FairPlayUSA’s Executive Director, “The website and online petition will be the focal point for recruiting and organizing supporters who will actively engage and make their voices heard by members of Congress. Outreach will be directed toward law enforcement officials, those who support Internet consumer safety, and online poker’s strongest asset – the millions of Americans who enjoy online poker.”
