The wave of attack from hackers have prompted the legal industry to implement more secure methods in protecting their communication systems that involve sending important and private documents to clients and within their respective organizations. Richard Tapp, Carillion’s general counsel said that, “The system offers unparalleled flexibility and features such as Outlook integration, making the management and sharing of information, internally and with outside counsel, easier and more efficient.”
For law firms that are smaller, the issue is more manageable compared to those faced by larger firms. The answer is a low cost method which can be availed from a legal web design service. Smaller law firms can purchase Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificates for their emails. These would only cost between $50 – $100 and an additional monthly hosting fee which is not considered as expensive as well. The 128-bit encryption used on emails with SSLs provides better protection than the regular email providers.
