Mark W. Caverly Appointed by Cegedim as Senior DEA Regulatory Consultant



Mark W. Caverly, a famous expert in U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) regulations, was recently hired by the Cegedim Relationship Management as senior DEA regulatory consultant. The announcement was made by Bill Buzzeo, the vice president of Global Compliance Solutions for Cegedim Relationship Management.

Cegedim is one of the leading providers of customer relationship management (CM), regulatory compliance, data and marketing solutions to the life sciences industry. In a statement, Bill Buzzeo, said, “We’re very excited that Mark is joining us. During his long career at the DEA, Mark represented the DEA as a policy expert regarding compliance with federal controlled substance and listed chemical laws and regulations, and was instrumental in drafting and implementing many new regulations”

According to sources at Cegedim, Caverly served as the head of the Liaison and Policy Section within the Office of Diversion Control located at the DEA Headquarters. He was the key point of contact to regulated industry and associations. Caverly specialized in providing federal law and regulations interpretations to DEA registrants, Congressional staff, as well as the general public. He also served as a field investigator and supervisor under the DEA, and was also a frequent spokesperson for the DEA on field and at the DEA headquarters.

Sources within the company said that Caverly will be joining the regulatory and compliance consulting team of the Cegedim Relationship Management. Other members of the team include many former government and industry compliance leaders.

The main task of Caverly will be to assist clients with DEA’s regulatory requirements by providing on-site reviews and “mock” examinations or inspections. His other tasks include Standard Operating Procedure review and development, as well as regulatory training and on-site or off-site general consultation besides providing guidance pertaining to DEA compliance issues.
