Report on Planned Parenthood Calls for Congressional Investigation

7/24/2011

The pro-abortion group, Planned Parenthood is once again under attack, this time from Americans United for Life (AUL), one of the country’s leading pro-life legal groups.

After researching over 20 years of Planned Parenthood records and law enforcement reports, as well as other evidences, the AUL has released a comprehensive, 181-page report that details, what it charges as large-scale financial irregularities. The report also contained alleged circumvention of state laws committed by the country’s leading abortion provider.

During the period of 2008-2009, Planned Parenthood allegedly received over $363 million in government contracts and grants, while its partners were busy performing more than 332,000 abortions.

According to Charmaine Yoest, the president of AUL, “Americans United for Life is calling for a congressional investigation and hearings into the nation’s largest abortion provider. This report provides the intellectual foundation for an investigation of Planned Parenthood, as well as revealing gaps in the information available to the American taxpayer, who is forced to subsidize the politically powerful abortion industry.”

In the executive summary of the report, AUL observed that Planned Parenthood “…often tries to underplay the significance of abortion to its business model. However, as this report details, abortion has a tremendous impact on Planned Parenthood’s bottom line. This is true to a greater degree each year, and Planned Parenthood has plans to expand its abortion business.”

The report also revealed that last year, Planned Parenthood signified its intention to further make its abortion business bigger by requiring each of its affiliates to have at least one clinic conducting the procedure by 2013.
