August 2010; Florida Bar gets sued over the new advertising rules.
The Daily Business Review is reporting that the new stringent Florida Bar and Florida Supreme Court rules on website and online advertising are being challenged as well as receiving criticism from a broad spectrum of law firms, the American Civil Liberties Union and the Federal Trade Commission. Protecting consumers is of the utmost importance however, impeding a law firms ability to afford-ably advertise on the World Wide Web is another story. Smaller firms without the ability to fund large marketing campaigns are the hardest hit.
Additionally, it is being reported that the “Florida 8″ a group of eight Florida law firms have filed suit against the Florida Bar. The new rules which were scheduled to take effect July first have since been put on hold while the dust clears.
