How to get your communications noticed in a cluttered digital age

Your customers and prospects are bombarded – and overwhelmed – by an unstoppable floodtide of communications in today’s business world.

The average consumer is exposed to 3,000 marketing messages a day – online, broadcast, and print — and has an attention span of about 9 seconds.

So when you hand them your business card, brochure, or folder … or send a letter … if it looks like every other card, folder, or letter they get, it’s likely to hit the round file fast.

The challenge is to look great in print and give your customers and prospects printed materials that grab them by the lapels and won’t let go.

And that’s where Wells & Drew can help…

Creating unique visual impressions other printers can’t

Our specialty is giving our customers printed materials more distinctive and impressive than those of their competitors.

To that end, we focus on producing hand-crafted engraved stationery for professional organizations worldwide.

In our 160+ years in business, we have printed marketing and branding materials for over 150,000 businesses.

Ever since the beginning, our core business has been creating high-end printed marketing and branding materials for companies that value their corporate image – printed materials that communicate the image they want to convey.

Truly unlike any other printing company

You can go to any one of a thousand printers to put ink on paper. However, our specialty is designing and printing unique communications – business cards, folders, brochures, envelopes, letterhead and marketing materials – that our customers can’t get anywhere else.

We do that with unsurpassed quality control, achieved by owning most of the facilities and equipment we need to create a dazzling array of special effects and designs in print. These include engraving, letterpress, embossing, die cutting, foil stamping, watermarks, digital and offset printing.

Old world craftsmanship and modern design

Our skilled engravers are skilled craftsmen with decades of experience honing their engraving skills. The result is a mastery of the engraving process. “In 4 color commodity printing, a computer does the work,” explains the head of our engraving operation. “In engraving, quality is achieved through the skill, experience, and judgment of the pressman.”

Wells & Drew is one of the leading engravers in the United States. Our CEO, Randy Houser, is a former president of the engraver’s trade group, the International Engravers Association.

And, in an age of computer automation your business cards and other print materials are still crafted at Wells & Drew by hand.

For instance, business cards are manually cut in a slitter to ensure a perfect edge and dimensions. Our production team includes a professional proofreader to ensure that the printing on your cards is error-free. Each box of cards is visually inspected to make sure the final product meets our high standards – and yours.

As far as designing the material we print, our graphics department has more than 40,000 hours of design experience for branding and marketing materials.

The advantages of paper in a digital age

Volumes have been written to explain how and why print communications stand out and are even more effective and attention-getting in today’s digital era. Here are just a few of the facts:

  • 86% of consumers say shopping is easier when they have a printed catalog.
  • 80% of recipients read or skim their direct mail and 75% say they have made a purchase as a result of direct mail.
  • 44% more consumers are prompted to return to web sites and spend money by receiving a catalog than by an e-mail.
  • Approximately 67% of Baby Boomers feel postal mail is more personal than the Internet.
  • Response to mail increases 48% when higher paper grades are used.
  • 56% of consumers stated that they found print marketing to be the most trustworthy of all media channels.
