Barger & Wolen Joined by the Former President of ACIC

The former president of the Association of California Insurance Companies (ACIC), Samuel Sorich, has joined the firm of Barger & Wolen as Of Counsel on June 15. Sorich, who has served the insurance industry for over 30 years, will also open and lead the new Sacramento office of the law firm.

ACIC is the longest established property and casualty insurance trade association in California.

“After my retirement from the ACIC, I was looking for an opportunity to continue to serve the insurance industry and its customers,” said Sorich. “Joining Barger & Wolen was a perfect opportunity to do that.”

He also said, “Barger & Wolen is an extraordinary firm that has incredible presence and influence in the insurance industry and has successfully represented many of ACIC’s 300 members.”

As the president of ACIC, Sorich managed the legislative, regulatory and litigation activities of the group. His responsibility with Barger & Wolen will center on expanding the presence and relationships of the firm in Sacramento, more specifically with the Department of Insurance and other state agencies.

While Barger & Wolen is not entirely new to Sacramento, because of its representation and regulatory work before the Department of Insurance, Sorich will function as a liaison for the clients of the firm within the state capital’s influential circles.

According to Steven Weinstein, the chairman of Barger & Wolen, “This new move solidifies our presence in Sacramento, which is a center of influence in California for the insurance industry. The addition of Sam not only showed our understanding of our clients’ business practices and needs, but it demonstrates our leadership in the industry.”
